Pumps without weep holes

The starting point to this project was when I was re-painting part of my motor and decided to re-paint the water pumps also. The passenger side pump didn't feel right, the pulley wasn't turning freely. This pump did not have a weep hole; something I didn't realize was a problem when it was installed. When I took it apart it was obvious there was a problem with it; the shaft was coated with residue from the carbon seal and underneath that the shaft had rusted and was badly pitted. I assume that as the carbon seal had worn there was no place for the residue to go except out the front of the pump through the space beween the shaft and the bushing which clogged up the pores in the bushing preventing the lubrication getting to the shaft. The pump on the driver's side which has a weep hole was in excellent shape.
